Though I was born in, and raised around, New York City, I have spent almost all my adult life in Ithaca, New York. Educated as a Mechanical Engineer, photography became a passion after college and carried on throughout my working life.  Now retired, I am approaching this 'hobby' as more of a vocation. 

 

I started with color film, then slides and was very discouraged by the resulting prints and therefore moved to black and white film and began printing myself.  I began using  digital cameras in 2008. 

 

Both business and then family brought me fairly frequently to Europe and most frequently to Paris, which accounts for the number of Paris photographs. Though on rare occasion I still shoot with black & white film, almost all photographs from 2008 onward are digital.  Although shooting digital I still see and print many of my images as black and white. 

 

The works shown are from diverse locations, ranging from the U.S. to Europe to Asia.  The images are sometimes classic, but are often not.  Most images represent either the common objects we walk by each day, or different views of well known, frequently photographed subjects.
